I have an 07 impala ss that has chrome door handles. does anyone know if its simply the car color under there or will i have to paint them and put them back on? i think that look would be a lot cleaner and just nicer, just wondering

 

If it came factory chances are they aren't painted under the chrome.

Its definitely not painted under the chrome. They have some sort of etching chemical that will aid in applying the chrome to plastic.

 

Scuff them up and paint them if you don't like them. Duplicolor paints match pretty good.

if you bought the car used its a good chance that they are owner applied. the imp ss should have body color door handles. it could have been a dealer installed option, but if that were the case i would highly doubt they would go through all that trouble they are probably mounted with 3m tape which would probably have destroyed the paint either way.

 

I know the chrome handles are available on those and I think they look good myself. I'm not really big on chrome and don't like "stick on" chrome crap, but I think the handles look balanced and classy on the Impalas. Upscaled. If you gotta lose them, find someone with painted ones to trade ya.
