well i sanded a small part of the body to fix some rust and respray it primer black.after sanding and seeing the red that is hidden by the black paint.i got a wild hair up my a$$,so i am now planning on sanding the whole car down by hand to this red color.i have spent a few hrs doin what ive gotten so far.i know there are gona be areas that i need to take all the way down, then primer and paint.but i can go to the clarys dealership in town and get the paint code then take it to a local paint place in town to get it in a spray can.so after i end up doin all that im goin to hit it with 1k grit wet paper, smooth it all.then buff it and spray some clearcoat on it.i just want some ideas on if i should continue or not.

i think the whole car would look good in that color if the body is straight and you have it done by a professional. personally in my younger years 18-25 i would drive my 80 with the war paint on it. nothings better than a loud monte with a tough small block and ashy primer that says im ready for a street fight.

lol.well me being unemployed and haven a kid.money is tight so getting it sprayed pro is out of the question unless i somehow come into alot of money.so my plan is to get the factory red mixed up in some spray cans and shoot it in my driveway.then buff the paint to get a better shine, then cover it with some clearcoat.and my dad has been talking about a sealer?is the clearcoat a sealer,or is there a different material out there to seal it?

I'm really digging the deep red color. I think that if you were to attempt to match the factory color code you may run into problems. The car has seen 20+ years of sun, so I don't believe the code would match what you have on there today. I do think it looks good though and if you take your time to avoid runs, it will turn out okay. Good luck and post some more pictures regardless of the route you choose.
