Question Standard decals or wild?

Hi folks, my '01 black MOC SS is off getting paint work. Racing flag decals have got to go to make a good job. I want some decals but not sure which -- to replace with the same, or go a little wild -- stylized US flags? Silver dragons? Something else?
Anybody got recommendations for the best decal sources, and if you went with something unusual, did you regret it?

I'm thinking of a couple by xtremedigitalgraphix.com, checkered flag Racing Wing Vinyl decals #3, or Stars and Stripes red, white, and blue

I'd check out local vinyl / wrap places to at least see how their pricing stacks up against online vendors. The one nice thing with a local shop is that they're generally made to order, so if you want to tweak it slightly- flip a few of the colors, delete an element, etc, they can make it exactly what you want.

I used to have metallic blue racing stripes on my monte. For about 4 or 5 years, I also had a giant Chevy bowtie over the rear drivers quarter at an angle. I loved it (of course until the vinyl in general started breaking down from the sun after several years).

Nice thing is that the cost is pretty cheap. If you don't like it, you're only out a couple hundred bucks at worst.

Here are a few ideas that may giv you some inspiration. The last one has Blue hood stripes that you might consider?

Hey, thanks. That checkered flag hood ornamentation is nice -- I hadn't thought about that. One of the parts stores gave me numbers for some local places that can make them; at least one of them can do some very custom work. That makes me all kinds of tempted... the trouble is, I don't want to get so wrapped up in getting exactly the right design that I end up not doing it at all.

I have always loved the E/3-Stripes in any variant like the DEI Monte Carlos ran in Nascar. The Dale Jr one was great, but there were some Dale Sr tribute cars that were both black and silver that ran red/black/silver variants on that stripe. The 2003 cars where it continued past the rear wheel translates well on these cars. The 2004/2005 stripes which were basically only on the doors were still cool, too. Personally, that always gets my vote. I almost did silver with red shading to my 2006 before I sold it.

The stripes look good but i want something that flow along the lines of the car... still considering. The car looks slick and clean without them, but, but, but...

That's the nice thing with vinyl, it's comparatively very cheap (vs paint) and is easy to remove. Id just jump in and buy something, if you don't like it or get bored with it, peel it off and do something else.
