Default Special Edition Wheels

My 02SS Pace Car has the special edition wheels. Sombody who had the car before me had replaced the lug nuts and just put on generic lugs. I think this car had lugs that had plastic caps, but not sure. Can anybody fill in a little more info on what kind of lugs it had, and where I can get them. I want to get back to OEM on these wheels. The generic lugs just look tackey.

Every place sells them. They have threads on outside for the plastic covers.

What color was the plastic covers. Do most places sell them as well, or is this a dealer item. Thanks

Yea all the local auto part stores sell them and the covers. Covers are originally gray to blend in with the allow wheels. Gets kinda expensive if you buy them individually but some auto part stores sell them in a package 20 lugs for about $24 and 20 covers for about $20(I saw them in pepboyus to be exact). Individually they're in the park range of $2.49 for each either a lug or a cap that's what a $100 before tax?

Ps. If u do go back to originals, just use a socket and hand tighten the plastic covers don't use a ratchet with that socket they're brittle and crack easily when over tightened.

Any time I needed a factory style lug, my parts stores never had them, but whenever someone I knew needed them, they were right there.

Might be worth just looking for a good set of chrome lugs that fit.

I got replacement lug nut covers from chevy dealership when I first got my '03 ss, cost a lot like 3-4$ each since then I ordered 25 from rock auto for like 20-25$ Dorman brand OE,my suggestion is that whenever you have tire work done, remove them before you go cause the idiots will use the impact wrench on them and crack them!!! Rock Auto also has the actual lug nuts too with the threads on outside!

My 2005 Monte carlo SS came stock with chrome lug nuts.
My wife's 2005 Impala SS came stock chrome lug nuts.
My son's 2002 Impala LS came with the cover on the lug nuts

Here's a pic of my wheel with the lug nuts.

I still use the factory lug nuts with the covers. Think they look good to me. Had all new ARP lugs installed for peace of mind and new OEM lug nuts too. The kind of cornering and such I push the car through, I just had a bad gut feeling about the factory stuff after 12 years of wear and tear.

I use the Chrome lug nut covers on my original OEM wheels now powder coated black.
