Repainting my monte
#12
Hi `Brock, I like it cause it's different & it looks great.
Are you going to paint it yourself, or have someone else do it ? Wish you good luck on getting it the way `YOU want it to be ~>4-Sure....I also like the pace car you posted.
Hope life is going good 4 U ~>Good Luck in 2012 & in `Life
And thanks everyone, I love my blacked out car but I wasn't sure how everyone would take the orange. Looks like its go time haha.

Not to rain on your parade, but bright, flashy colors with weird metallics and the such are 1) harder to spray and 2) display all your prepping and errors better than a standard color paint would. To be honest, that's aprt of the reason my white car is a yellowish white color from the 60s. It hides all my flaws well.
As far as this topic goes, we're on the same track as I will be repainting hopefully on spring break.

Oh trust me, I know. I've been repainting my grand prix a metallic red color and so far I got it even, but the dirtyness of my shop is killing me. I'm gonna build a partition in there and get it all clean, hopefully thats all I need. I will practice on the other monte first anyway.
And it shows less flaws then black

Seriously? Hmm... I've had fair luck with black. Painted fenders for that '50 Chevy truck and painted a '50 Chevy 4 door and they both came out looking good... not absolutely perfect, but very presentable nonetheless (As in, look good ,as long as you don't nick pick it... stand back 5 ft.) Fancy metallics and bright colors screw me up though.

I like that color a lot too and think it will look great. The dirtiness of your shop reminds me when I was about 18 my buddy and his dad repainted his car (a 79 monte carlo) black. I think they had just finished spraying the clear about 2 hours before we got there. Somebody else walked in and slammed the garage door and a huge piece of dust fell from the rafters and landed right on the roof. It was one of those slow motion moments. His dad just laughed and said well looks like you have some more work to do.
