Well I don’t like how the fuel cell sits in the trunk I want some of it below the trunk floor. Won’t know how far we can or cannot lower until the wheelie bars are installed. Wheelie bars are on order (I think). Then make the chute brackets and it’s back to Utah. I am getting a bit anxious. Coming on two years in California. My builder expects the car to be back late next month, got my fingers crossed.
Take whatever they tell you and make it times 3....lol. If you spread the wheelie bars enough you can get it between them. Only issue then would be how high the chute harness comes up with it comes out. I ran a 12 gallon one...a bit overkill but I was on Alky and wanted to be safe. I would guess for the street you are going bigger?
Well, we both can start complaining. Mine has a coolant leak, but thankfully it wasn't a head gasket, but a radiator. Put a new GM in for $223. New 4 way flasher, turn signals didn't work. I have damn near rebuilt this entire car. We should start calling ours Money Carlos.

Rebuilding our cars - that's a given - after building 2 Monte's, now in the course of 12 years and counting - I think I know every part on each of them from memory and each individual part number - I have gone over so many so many times my head is spinning. I just want my car back now- getting old and impatient.

20 year olds want instant gratification. 50 year olds know that medically anything can shorten your life. Worst part for you is that even once it is completed that is just the beginning. Countless test sessions, and finding out what works and what doesn't. Fortunately, you aren't reinventing the wheel. Thousands before you have done this, but when you are dealing with a one of a kind car it can take a while to sort it out. Since you have a good engine man, I would think sorting out the 4 link will be the most time consuming. Hopefully your chassis guy is very good at that and can get it adjusted in a short time. Don't know if you are near a drag strip, but around here I could always find a few guys that would go in and rent the track for a day. Get 7-8 passes which was very helpful. Just be sure to take your time and make short passes. Once you get it hooked the rest is gravy. Once you get past the 1/8, if it feels the least bit funny, don't be afraid to get that chute out. That has saved me many a time. Most think they are for stopping, but they will get your car straight again.

Well, the word overkill comes to mind. They certainly aren't going to bend. Where is the chute mount? Will it go over the top of the X on the wheelie bars and under the bumper? Going to be tight. I would put a smaller X at the rear and put the bracket in the center of the rear end to keep the chute low. See how the X is at the rear and bottom? Chute lines can go over the top.
Now I know what it means to have my doors blown off. I am sure I will not run in the 7’s . Wishful thinking if I can maintain low 9’s. Maybe I will get surprised. Chute bracket to go through the new opening (recess to be cut)where the license plate was/goes. Thank you for the offer for the headlamps and taillights. I already have an extra set of stock ones. But I appreciate the offer. Thank you very much. The fabricator is going to lower my tank below the trunk floor. Says maybe 2” at most. I will take it. I already have a new SS REAR bumper so if he over-cuts my builder will make it pretty on the new bumper so I can use that recess for my plate when the chute bracket has been removed. Once the tank is lowered and the chute bracket is done It’s back to Utah.
By the way that advise on opening the chute early is a great piece of advice. I would have never known that. That I can’t thank you enough for. Just probably saved my butt. Thank you.

So the chute will have the mounting bracket for the loop right behind it? Not on the rear end? Trying to picture this.
Once he is done I will have a picture and we both will know exactly how it will work and look. I don’t know enough about how all the mounting should be to give you an explanation. All I know is I will have to pull the cable to deploy the chute.
