Default Re-wire 6th tailights

Has anyone re-wired their 6th gen tail lights to act like 7th gen tailights. i would much rather do this than try to find some 7th gen tailights which could potentially be very expensive

any help is appreciated thanks..

I want both of the lights in each taillight to be on when the tailights are on and when the turn signal is on the top light flashes off then on. The 6 gen tailights only have the bottom light lit while the tailights are on and the top bulb flashes on then off with the turn signal... sorry if this sounds confusing

It isn't confusing. That's the reason why I got my LED tails because I hated how the rears were lit.

I do remember seeing a thread about how to do this a long time ago, but I can't seem to locate it

Haha, and here I've always wanted to change some of the wiring to the 6th gen style. I want the blinker to be the top bulb and not the bottom like it currently is.

Yeah, on mine the bottom light is the brake and blinker. The top light is never really lit up.

This is relatively a simple mod to do. No need to replace trun signal relay first of all. You will need 2 three wire bulb sockets that are like the ones in the bottom socket. Also you will need I believe 2 3057 bulbs if I remember right.Using either a test light figure out what wires do what such as brake light and running light. On the top light on my 2004 there are 2 wires. One for turn signal and one for ground. Bottom light there are 3 wires. One for brake light, one for running light and the other is ground. Just figure out which is running light and wire that to the new socket and connect other 2 wires and you are done. You will have to do some trimming of the tabs to get to twist in the upper socket. shouldnt take no more than 30 minutes or so and both upper and lower lights will be on when you turn the tail lights on. On the 7th gen it is basically the same thing just wire both bulb sockets the same. Clucia if you were closer I would just switch you wiring harnesses since I have LED tail lights now.
