Racing Stripes :(
Wow that car looks nice! Personally I love the graphic on the side. A bit off that the racing stripes extend over the roof. But anyway the paint condition underneath them would depend on how long those decals have been on & how often it bakes in the sun. I honestly don't know the effect of metallic has on paint so I'm just saying in general. Someone else on here probably knows more. If you redo the decals, I would do them in silver since the bottom of your monte is silver but that's just me. Also if you don't want to deal with the hassle of having to constantly be worrying about replacing the decals for whatever reason, you can have them painted on the car.
well i went to a shop today and they said that it would cost around 100-200 bucks to remove all the decals and 100-200 to put new ones on. they said the decals used on the car were not good quality to begin with and i should get the high quality stuff that they have which has little sparkles in it (not 3M but close to it). also, they said that it could happen again but not for a few years or so. andd painting is too expensive. i would really like to keep it silver but have to sleep on it. does anybody have silver stripes or decals??
No problems and the hood graphic has been on the car for 7 years and yes it's metallic silver. (The side checkers were done a couple of years later, and the color matches perfectly). The only problems is on the hood I have a couple of stone chips that left marks in the vinyl. I designed the hood graphic and brought it to a local shop to have it done.

I would also you a heat gun. WARM all of the sticker. DO NOT DO THIS COLD IN WEATHER. Spray water on the corner you are starting at to avoid any little scratches from the tool you use. All you want to do is to just get it started so that you can get you figures on it and keep regripping and with the other hand keep warming decal. After decal is removed, now just make sure adhesive is dry. I use a product by Nas Cam it's called Envirosol ( it's actually an engine degreaser) Now spray it on, let sit for about 2 min. then spray again on area. Now within a minute take a power washer to it starting from the bottom of area so the water does not delute the cleaner. No scraping is involved doing it this way. Hope this helps
Okay.. So i have a problem. 2 people that ive talked to origially said they would take the stripes off and replace them. But they both backed out because its so fried on the car thr paint will chipp off with some of the stripe here and there and they said it was too much of a liability for them. So basically alot of work time and effort for not enough money in it. So i went to another shop which is suppost to call with an estimate. Everybody says this could happen again and it might just be worth trading it in. Paints alot of money and im not sure what to do now. Mad stressful. Also the parts of stripe on the roof i took off paint here and there came off so im worried. I Put touch up paint to cover up the primer for now. Any suggestions??
