Default Racing Stripes!

I have a 2005 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged which i purchased in NY. Its blue and came with these aftermarket silver racing stripes and decals. Sure, it looks great but i recently moved to Florida where it is much hotter and my racing stripes have faded and are now a brownish tint. I talked to a body shop and the guy there said that since they are silver they have these metallic sparkles in it which get twice as hot as ones that arent silver. is this true? i honestly dont know what the paint under it could look like!? whether its faded paint under the stripes and decals or whether its still new paint. im thinking i might replace them but not by myself. i might go with white decals. $800. HELP! need opinions!

Wow that car looks nice! Personally I love the graphic on the side. A bit off that the racing stripes extend over the roof. But anyway the paint condition underneath them would depend on how long those decals have been on & how often it bakes in the sun. I honestly don't know the effect of metallic has on paint so I'm just saying in general. Someone else on here probably knows more. If you redo the decals, I would do them in silver since the bottom of your monte is silver but that's just me. Also if you don't want to deal with the hassle of having to constantly be worrying about replacing the decals for whatever reason, you can have them painted on the car.

The design of them look good, but if they have been on sence new i could almost bet the paint is prob hasnt faded as much as the rest of the car but only way to know is to peel em off & if u redo em id stick with silver sence it matches the rest of the car

I had the more traditional pace car decals on my 03 for the first couple of years, then took them off and no paint fade. I had the side checkers integrated with my hood graphic.

Get a price on how much a body shop would charge to paint them on. Maybe they could use the existing decals to mask around. Then peel the decals off after they're done masking. Plus, with painting them on, you never have to worry about replacing decals again.

So guys! today i spent 12:30-6:30 trying to take off one of the SMALLEST parts of the racing stripes. IT IS DIFFICULT. turns out the paint under this piece of striping is BRAND NEW.. only problem is that since the stripes are so burnt and cracked the cracks that were able to see sunlight are as faded as the car itself. so it doesnt look good. :/ im considering just getting the car wrapped. but i would just pay someone to take them all off because it is such a paiiin. any suggestions ?

heat gun or hair dryer to soften the decals and a solvent to get the left over glue off
