Default Question on HID's for mrl390, Matt or anyone

Hey Matt, I saw in a write up that you said you bought HID's from DDM Tuning and I just had a couple questions for you. Did you just buy the basic Raptor HID kit ($30) or did you get some of the add-ons? The basic is the two ballasts and two bulbs. The add-ons I wasn't sure if I needed are the HID harness and the mounting brackets. I will be putting these into a 1996 Monte Carlo.

Also, how are the lights working out for you...any problems since the original purchase? I like the fact that these have a lifetime warranty!

Anybody can field this question, I just knew Matt purchased the same ones I'm looking at. Nothing better than first hand experience.

Thank you!

From my experience the best way to install HIDS is using the the DRL relay harness and pull the constant power from the Battery and not the factory wiring.

I have my highs, lows, and fogs wired with relays, only pulling the signal from factory wiring.

I just went ahead and purchased the hid harness just in-case if I would end up needing it...it was only $12. Thanks for the tip though.

you wont really need the harness to make them work, it should work directly out of the box, did you get the 35w or 55w? with 55w it might be a good idea, but either way you should be safe on stock wiring

I went with the 35w because I wasn't sure if the 55w would be too hot for the housing so I just played it safe. The 35's will be way better than my stock bulbs anyways. Thanks for the insight Trewyn.

no problem, if you have the harness for them though, you might as well use it, it can only help, but going without it will not hurt anything.

Well, I finally got some time to install the HID's today and they look and work great! I didn't end up using the harness, it seemed like a lot of extra work to hook up something that MIGHT help. I would have had to take off a lot of pieces to be able to run all the wiring the way I would want it. And I was thinking the more pieces I install increases the odds that I'll have to replace something down the road.

Thanks for all the tips!
