Painting the hood liner

Painting the hood liner
I'm planning on painting the corvette emblem onto the heat shield under my hood and was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for doing so. I know I've seen a couple people paint it but didn't know if there were any problems with it peeling or anything due to engine heat. I'm planning on using the C5 vette emblem except instead of the torch on the far right, i'm going to use the monte shield . . . . any ideas or suggestions?

If you want that for shows, I suggest just contact jarhead on here to make you one that you can remove with velcro or something when you drive and can put on when showing. His stuff is great! He also does the trunk lid panels.

i used high temp engine paint i believe and it wont really peal because it soaks into the shield itself.
i agree with lisa, i would get an actual emblem from jarhead with velcro or something, it will stay nicer then

I plan on painting it directly on the liner. . . .the cardboard is just a template to get the actual size and shape of what i'm painting. . . unless you think it'd be better to make a separate emblem to stick on the hoodliner. . . but if is soaks in and holds it's color, then why not just paint it on?

Like I said earlier if you want it for show then Jarhead would be the way to go, very authentic and professional looking. Many of us have his work. His stuff does not look homemade. You won't be disappointed.

You can order an emblem and instead of it being on a trunk lid panel, you can stick it to your hood liner. He does make a Monte Carlo crest for the hood liner which was shown in his thread I gave you the link to but he can make just about anything. See pic here(this guy used it as a display instead of on his hood liner):
