This is on my wife's car. Nothing fancy, but we wanted to add some color. I used red Krylon for plastic. 2 coats. No clear. Then I used a silver paint pen to highlight the lettering and slots, and then a black pen with the tip cut on an agle to paint the fake vents. I'm happy with it, for the effort involved. I think the red wire loom is coming out soon.

I need to get me one someday. Unfortunately, they dont make one for the 3100. i guess i might have to make one.

JJ, There's lots of ways to add color without an engine cover. Here is another example, along with the blue one above:
