Default Painting calipers

What paints do you all recommend for painting calipers?

I had painted mine with Duplicolor spray caliper paint, and it worked great until the temperatures started to drop, then it began to chip and flake very quickly.

So, now that I have to re-paint the calipers, what does everyone recommend, or should I just try to find some pre-painted/powder coated calipers?

I've got a color similar to yours, Superior blue, on my '03 Monte Carlo. I painted my calipers with Ford Dark Blue (yeah yeah) engine paint and they haven't flaked, faded, or anything to that affect since I painted them. I'd recommend them for your car... you could paint them black, orange, or red... any would look good to me!

clean area well, primer and a heat tolerant paint (the engine paint might not a be a mad idea) but a caliper paint should do it, the non primer per coat causes the flaking....

I would recommend getting them powdercoated, but if you can't take the time and money to get that done, then I would recommend the G2 Brake Caliper kit.

The G2 kits look nice, I'll have to give them a try.

The duplicolor was primed, and it seems that is what is giving up on me. The paint bonded to the primer fine, the primer to the caliper, not so much. I figured the combo of brake cleaner, wire brush and rubbing alcohol would have done a good enough job to promote adhesion, seems I was wrong.

Starting fluid is really good for cleaning up grease on metals... maybe try that instead of the alcohol. Maybe take a tack cloth to pick up the pieces of the cloth that may come off on the caliper if you're really concerned about that much.... pick one up at better car stores that sell paint and the hardware stores.
