The red one I posted a while back was a straight on front view of another Dale Jr edition. Not an LS.

Here's a slightly different shot that will give you a better idea of what it would look like on your junior edition.

BTW... Some of you may recognize this car as Cam Hanlon's car. He has both SLP grills installed in this picture. (upper and lower)

 

hey guys, im on vacation right now, but before i left i put on a gloss black coat, when i get back im going to put a clear coat on, ill post a before with it on the car out of the box and an after of it on the car painted and cleared, ill also get up the lower grille insert that i want to get here soon too.

 

dumb question time again, how hard is it to paint the outer border body color and the 'mesh' black?

 

Thanks a TON Taz for the picture!!! That looks GREAT! I'm really thankful for all the feedback this post gave, I really really appreciate it! Looks like HIGH gloss black with a clear coat is the WINNER!!! My next option is figuring if I want to stick with the Chevrolet bowtie graphic or the SS badge... I think I'll start off with the bowtie, until I can find a large enough SS badge.

Painting the grille two seperate colors wouldn't be that bad, it's just a matter of masking it off properly... and IF your outside border is a lighter color, it may take quite a few coats of paint to get it the proper color. I'm glad i'm going with black, cuz it might need to be primered if I went with a body color...

 

P.S. Taz, do you have the link or can you post the pic of the red Dale Jr. with the red grille? Just for comparisons sake...

This is the first picture I initially saw of the SLP grille, but if Taz says there is a red one, I haven't seen that one yet. I've only seen forum member MonteMan with his red grille on his LSX Monte...

 

Recieved the SLP grille today... My question: what can i do to the front fascia UNDER the grille so that you don't see the redness through the mesh of the grille? I saw that "blazin" had taped off and painted under the grille, but i don't want anything that permanent, incase I take the grille off in the future. I'm looking for ideas.

And I will be painting the grille high gloss black with a coat of clear coat. And i'll be using the chevy bowtie logo for now... I may change it to an SS badging eventually.

P.S. ditto for the lower grille?? I will eventually purchase that as well... what can you do to the lower portion, sans paint, to blacken it out for the new grille insert to go onto?

 

Sheet vinyl, can get it at a sign shop in flat black. Should be somewhat easy to peel off if you change your mind... I doubt you will though.
