I sent out about 60 e-mails to salvage yards across the midwest who indicated via parts.com that they had quester glass for a 3rd gen Monte Carlo. Only about 4 people even bothered to return my e-mails. Kind of frustrating. Why have an e-mail if you don't check it or reply to requests?

Do you suppose I can buy the 78-87 Outer Door Glass Seals/Moldings and make them work along the bottom of the quarter window? This is what I mean:
Dixie Monte Carlo Depot ROUNDBEAD
Maybe cut them to fit? Downsode is that they curve up at the back.

there was no image or price. if youre going to try that i would look on ebay, or craigslist, and try and find the cheapest ones you can.

I think my link does not work.
Go here: Dixie Monte Carlo Depot
Search for PN DM60145

I'll also look on e-bay.

Just got this piece in at the local u-pull

Guessing these parts are too far gone for you though:

I'd need instructions on how to get them out without damaging them too.

i am restoring my dads 80 Monte - those pieces are stainless steel. I located some on Ebay. there is a 1980 all original on Austin craigslist 59k original miles. those trim Pieces are not really necessary - I am actually contemplating leaving them off of my dad's monte - can not sell them because they are not mine to sell. all you need is windshield adhesive and mount the window in.

Default window trim 1980

yes 1980 different than '79. all that trim polishes up nice with a mother's whel polishing setup. got a mirror shine on the one I am working on. 30+ years in south Alabama sun,
I have spent more time hunting parts on this monte, more than any other restore / renovation.

Default Help with trim removal

Body shop needs them to re-install the windows. See attached pictures. I have also attached a trim diagram I got from the local Chevy dealer. I believe I need 11 & 12. I THINK the part numbers are (I only have the part numbers for the drivers side) 20010143 & 20030791.

Thanks,
Russ

I know this is an old post but can anyone describe how to remove the vertical trim piece that is shown in the 2nd above photo? I am replacing the vinyl on my 78 Landau and can't figure out how this piece comes off.

Thanks in advance
Mark
