mpd hood
I've had this hood on my '06 since Dec of '08. I also had the concern about the water getting on the airbox and into the pcm, but bought the hood anyway. I haven't had any trouble with it at all. I check it out periodically and have never noticed any water dripping or draining in this area andI live in the part of the country where it rains.....alot. I also have the K&N CAI. What measurements are you looking for?
i dont have the MPD hood i have the PFYC SS hood. very similar. mine still allows air to come through and i have the K & N CAI too. I've never had a single problem with rain only condensation which really isnt enough to do any damage to anything haha. dont worry about the rain its minimal at most.
MPD recommends using their CAI with the hood and if you look at the pics close you can see that little drain hole actually sits outside of the intake opening. It looks as though their design is more of a true ram air system, forcing the air dircectly into the air cleaner, as opposed to having the K&N, in which the air just flows over and around it.
I think if your designing your own hood all you would have to do is drill the drain hole in a different area, modify the stock airbox somehow to fit the hood or design your own cover to fit the K&N and mate to the hood.

yeah im going to have to figure this out. im putting a vacuum operated flapper on the scoop so im wondering how much vacuum ill lose having the drain hole like that. the measurements i was looking for were the depth of the ducting and the size of there opening. i have someone on my other forum getting measurements for me thanks anyway.

FYI, since our engines are set up for ram air that well, gains will probably be minimal at most. not trying to discourage you because i definately think its a cool project to tackle and would love to see your results, just think of it as something like a disclaimer lol. the sideways air tract that will be flowing the air from the hood to the intake is sideways, thus losing its true velocity. also, it will be traveling over the TB and crossover, making that air substansially warmer once the TB and crossover warm the hood up. sucks
the hood will still look badass though!

We had an '80 Z28. Looked cool, black with the silver stripe package. Loved that car but it was a dog. The best thing about that car was when you went WOT the little flapper at the back of the scoop popped open.....made ya think you were going fast. Love those little flappers.
