Default LED License Plate Bulb White 194

I bought this bulb today, Sylvania 194 LED available at advance auto parts, no online ordering necessary!

Buy Sylvania 168/194/2825 LED 168/194/2825LED at Advance Auto Parts

heres a picture of the new and old bulb

Of course the LED would not fit in the housing. The plastic lens over the LED was too large.

I cut the lens cover off with a dremel and cleaned it up nice

check it out nice and white

FYI I bought a few cheapos on Ebay a while back and they were too long for the housing. I cut those down on the wedge side to try to make them fit in the housing. They never stayed in the bulb socket securely. These went in firm and don't move around, no slop.

Lets just hope now that you ground it off...
That it remains weather proof????

I bought mine online at superbrightleds 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base | Miniature Wedge Base LEDs | LED Car Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs It was about a millimeter or so too long but after I wiggled it around a bit it worked and it's really bright too

There is a rubber or foam gasket on the socket you can see it in the 2nd picture. Also it isn't any different than the other ones you buy online those have no lens protecting the LED.

Those look nice, these aren't super bright and don't really light up the whole plate but the stock bulb never really did anyways. I did this kind of spur of the moment, I had the day off today, lol.

If I get ambitious, I may try to find another housing and socket assembly at the junk yard and wire it with the existing one. I would cut the bumper to move the bulbs to either side of the plate for a more balanced look.

Love the way mine lights up though, I only did it in the first place because of my rearview camera blocking the original light haha
