I'm Repainting My Monte Carlo (Pics Included
give you credit. i tried this with my 80 doing a flat black, and ill say painting and body work is really hard. i never really did body work and never used a real paint gun or paint till then. i went into it blind and my results were soso but the car looks good from 10ft away, through a dirty windshield, on a rainy day. it was definitely a vast improvement over its rattle can primer, and white hood. the primer would always chalk up and the white hood with the scoop was blinding on sunny days. im sure your a lot more informed than i was, and youll pull this off no problem. good luck with it.
I've got it sanded down well with 400 grit. I hooked it with the screwdriver under the trim, in the windows, between the bumper and fender, along the edges of the trunk and fenders, hood and fenders, etc.
I then went over the "high spots" with the 800 grit sand paper on the long block to really smooth over the highly visible spots. I will mask it off this evening and depending on how I feel, perhaps paint it.
(You can see my sanding block sitting on the roof of the vehicle.)

Im curious whats up with the right side tail pipe? Looks crinkled up... or is that just some paper and tape?
If thats the case...dont forget to do the left side as well..

Alright... we're ahead of schedule. The sanding is done. The masking is done. I'm taking a break right now and then I' mgoing out in about an hour to spray... wish me luck!
