I'm Repainting My Monte Carlo (Pics Included
Well we haven't seen how this one in particular will hold up yet. All my others have. I just don't post all my "jobs" on this forum.
I think a lot of people didn't know what I was getting into it and thought this was my first paint job or something.

There are three holes in the door, and two in the quarter fender to fill. It's taped on, so the tape is a mess to get off. Then just fill in the holes... not too much trouble really.
Hey Duane nice pics at RIR I go to both races every year as well as Martinsville. Had hot passes last spring got to stay in the track during the race. Got Jr's autograph old five times autograph as well as most of the others. Think I only missed Keselowski and Biffle. Anyhow I take it you live close to RIR? You ever have time I'd love to ask you about painting my 98 Monte Carlo z34. It's white and I wanna repaint it the factory white.
Also just watched some of your vids you took at the track in your personal car. You should try the NASCAR Racing Experience its the best one out there. Expensive but awesome. I have done it three times at Charlotte and the more you go the more rpms they will give you on the rev limiter. Every time I go I hold it wide open. Top speed I have hit is 160 they won't give you more than that. Also bought a ride along experience one time right after that and had a professional take me around at 175. It was awesome. Driving was awesome but with the ride along you really feel the extra speed. Taking off on pit road by yourself that first time is fun as hell too. You should check it out.
That was quite the project and it turned out great. Great job
Where did you get your "Superior Blue" paint and what brand is the paint? The reason I ask is that I have some rust spot and stone chips that I would like to spot fix.
So far, I have sanded down one spot to bare metal… with a ring of original primer showing, a ring of paint showing and a light sanding on the clear around that. I masked off the quarter panel, only exposing the bare metal and original primer. Cleaned the area with alcohol. I added 6 coats of primer and then sanded it all down to the same level as the original primer. It is now very smooth with no high spots and a tiny bit of bare metal showing. I have yet to reapply primer and sand again. I plan to use an air brush kit with my 20 gallon compressor. I want to try the airbrush kit seeing as I have more control over a smaller area.
Any light you can shed on the "Superior Blue" paint and clear coat would be great. Also how many clear coats did you shoot?
