I was attempting to paint my engine cover but screwed it up...again...I'm really getting sick of trying this...anyone know anybody that does this well? I have a fairly simple paint scheme but i guess im just useless with a rattle can haha

 

I've painted a couple but idk how to explain it...I have an intense system of doing it lol I'll try to post pics of the 3 that I have done tomm. I have done mine, my ex bfs for his bonnie & I'm in the process of finishing my current boyfriend's cover. I just need to do a wee bit of touch up & then clear coat it then I'm sending it back to him...it's too cold to finish it around here atm & my garage isn't heated unfortunately. It's difficult & annoying but it's rewarding in the end. In the spring when it's warmer & you haven't gotten it done yet, you can send it to me & I'll do it for ya. I don't overprice, I just charge for the supplies & then a few extra bucks for my time & the headache meds lol

 

Heres 2 quick pics of mine from a while ago...aren't the best pics but they show it for the most part...trying to find a pic of my exs (it's a regular l36 one that's got a white base, red letters, & black intake bumps if I remember right) & then I'll take a pic of brian's tomm (it's l36 cover too with black base, red intake bumps that kind of got a faded look i guess & silver letters)



I just realized that these pics really don't show the rich color & shine that the cover has lol I used like 2 big cans of clear on it so it's hella shiny!

 

What paint are you using? I find that Rust-o-leum 500* rattle can paint works best, better still is you apply at least 3-5 coats and let it sure. Also, avoid painting when the temp is below 60* unless you're using a heat gun and you're doing it indoors. It helps, as well, if you sand the part and clean it really well before you paint. Preparation is 75% of the job when it comes to painting. GL!

 

Do you have the l36? I have a cover laying around and I can paint it and send it to you for some $$

 

Anyone have a cover for the 3400?! so hard to find!! i know they exist!

The 3400 engine covers were on Pontiac Vans I believe lol

I've seen them in the junk yards from time to time. Seriously, if you want a 3400 cover, I'd hit the local junk yards (bet they'd sell'em cheap).
