I have a 03 and my door has just started making an awful noise when you open it, due to the picture at the link below (cant figure out how to get the image to show up in the post, sorry)

Car maintenance is my weakest subject, can someone tell me what i should do to remedy this, if there's even anything i can do? My only guess is to spray it down good with WD40

 

i used WD40 and it worked for a while. but its back. so i guess if you just keep spraying it. but i have heard other people use a different type of grease and that works a little better.

 

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll start with some WD40 to save some pain in my ears until someone else might have a more longer lasting solution.

 

Graphite grease applied to the hinges should eliminate the noise. I apply it to my door/hood/trunk hinges and locks on an annual basis as a preventative measure.

So where do you actually spray it for the locks? Just spray a little inside the key hole?

 

Graphite grease is a dry lubricant. The container usually has a thin nozzle that you place between the hinges and into the locks, then squeeze the container to apply it. The benefit of a dry lubricant is it doesn't become a 'dirt magnet' like white grease or similar products. Most major auto part stores should have it.
