The hood is coming together
Here's the new hood so far, due to some financial troubles its taking a bit longer than i had hoped. But until then heres a fun fact, a grand prix hood fits on a monte carlo with about 1 inch gaps to the fenders, and it doesn't fully latch because it sits on top of the headlights lol. Anyways the whole mockup was made with some oil based modeling clay and my old probation ID for drag racing (used to smooth everything out the rest was done by hand) The center piece is foil and cardboard because there is a whole underneath and the clay kept drooping. Pretty soon i should be getting enough plaster to make a negative, then I'll be making the whole hood from fiberglass. Any tips or critiques would be appreciated.
Oh and as much as the second picture makes it look uneven, I've measured it from every angle possible in a 3 dimensional universe.

Yesterday I made the plaster mold, unfortunately I didnt take any pics of the process but I'll snag a few of the mold itself. If all goes well once I smooth things out I should be glassing today. It probably wont be thick enough to put on yet, i wanna wait until its atleast 1/4 inch before I slap it on. Still gotta bondo, sand, bondo, sand, bondo, sand, prime, sand, prime, sand and paint after that. So it will probably be a wee bit till its finished.
Today i went ahead and bought $100 worth of fiberglass and resin, sanded to mold down to perfection, snapped a few pics which ill upload in a minute, and started layin glass. Im not sure if it was the added weight or the heat from the fiberglass curing but when the first layer of glass was about half way cured a good quarter of the mold snapped. Once it cures ill toss it. Good news is the mold broke clean so i should be able to piece it back together and give it more support, bad news is the gallon of resin i mixed up is gonna get wasted.
