Has anyone ever painted a carburetor and aluminum intake?

The electric wp drive, I have decided, will be set up to come on with the key. But I will have the electric fan set up on a toggle to regulate my temps as needed while at the track.

One of the many other reasons I prefer in particular Painting VS Polishing...
overtime..
Paint will have a tendency to peel and or disappear should there be gas/alcohol spilled on it during a simple repair/changing out a carb is inevitable...
A polished one...
On the other hand you merely grab a rag (that's handy) and simply wipe up the excess thus eliminating the possibility of staining and dulling the shiny.. (IMO)
Either way its still a choice/preferance.
Barbara...
Regardless of your decision... I would be curious as to which way you used/preferred and possibly some pics if possible.

I will FOR SURE be giving both the best possible cleaning. Once I get that done I will decide if I need to take it a step further. I usually take pictures of everything I do to the car so I will be sure to post pics.

I respectfully disagree. Use a pyrometer on a bare manifold, then paint it and conduct the test again. The only difference you will detect is if you use black paint. It will aid in the radiation of the heat and will actually decrease the temperature of the air/fuel charge because of the increased radiation.

I realize I might be a bit late on this thread, but you could also consider a “Starter kit from Ceracoat. They have several different types of coatings including a high temp version that is air dry and does not require a curing oven. Lots of color and special effects to choose from. Just a thought. Just remember that surface prep is everything. Their site offers lots of tips and tricks
