Default Fixing the Famous 5th Gen Rust

The rust spot on my car was driving me crazy so I decided to do something about it. I got a donor quarter panel from the junk yard and I started tearing into it today. Here's some pics of the rust and my junk yard panel.

Working into the night! I drilled out all the spot welds to separate the outer panel from the inner skin. This is proving to be more difficult than I thought! I did get the panel off though, no pics of that quite yet. Tomorrow.

More tomorrow. I'm going to try and bang this repair out in just a few days! This should be fun, or a disaster! Who knows

Best of luck! Should be great when you're all done. Might I recommend the use of POR15 (a strong rust inhibitor) as you do this?

Wow that rust is worse than I thought. Looks like you got a nice quarter section to use for the repair. Looking forward to the progress and final product. Good luck man.

Jason, I did pick up some POR15 to paint the trouble areas as I do the repair. A quick question for you as I know you have some experience with it - To be effective does the sheet metal have to be coated on both sides? If I were to paint the inside of my new panel would that be effective? Or would I need to paint the inside and outside, say around the gas door where it's prone to rust?
