Default Factory fog lights? Or order through Ebay?

Hi - For Xmas I'm attempting to purchase fog lights for my husband's 2005 monte carlo. I'm not sure where to begin. Pulled out his Owner Manual - he does not have a fog light button in his car (plain black plastic piece covers where it should go). He does however have the cutouts (with black plastic grid like things) covering the holes by the headlights. I've looked on Ebay some... unsure of quality though. Would I be better off using the dealership? Purchasing them and having them installed? Even if I buy through ebay I will still have to pay to have them intalled - I won't be able to do it myself. The ones they sell on Ebay do not come with the button to turn on inside the car ... so how would you turn the fog lights on. Also - is their a difference (quality wise) in the factory and the others ... blinglights? Eurotech Engineering - Halos? I'm lost...I really have no idea what I am doing - any help would be greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays!

Lots of options here. Your best bet would be to speak with parts dealer at the dealership. They will have access to what is all needed to install them.

Your best bet would be to get the lights from the dealership, then have an aftermarket stereo shop install them. They will need to run some wire to the battery, and to the car interior... It's a pretty simple job, but can be very time consuming on its own... probably 3 hours or so given the interuptions you will see or a professional install will take an hour or 2.

you could buy the fog lights on ebay , then head to the wreckers and try to find a fog light switch for a monte(should be able to find one of these, and it shouldn't be very much money) then all you gotta get is the wiring harness, which if you find a monte at the wreckers with fog lights just ask them if you can have it out of that car, or go to the stealership and get the button and the wiring harness

what i did personally was add factory fog lights, then ran my own wiring.

because of how the factory brackets mount to the inside of the bumper, i doubt any aftermarket lights would mount as easily, or as solid, unless they happened to mount in the same way as the factory brackets. which i think is very doubtful.

i wanted to run the wiring as factory as possible, theres already wiring in the dash for the fog switch, the factory switch is reasonably priced.... but you have to assume that the BCM has the abilty to accept the input from the switch and can turn on the relay, then buy the factory relay, then dismantle the fuse block, and add wiring to the fog lights, and possibly from the fuse block to the BCM.

i ended up just switching power from the park lamps to run a relay to power the fog lamps. and unfortuneatly you cant use the factory switch because its just a momentary switch to signal the BCM to turn them on or off.

long story short, i agree with 04 Intimidator.
