As far as the lever not staying on the lock cylinder, you may be missing the retainer. It is #21 in the attached diagram. If you're lucky it might be laying in the bottom of the door. If not it's only a couple of bucks through the parts department at the dealer.

Also check and make sure the rod is connected the correct way. I had mine apart and had one part put back in from the opposite direction. needless to say it didn't work.

The doors are extremely hard to screw with....i tried lol
