Black paint touch-up
Hi folks,
My new old '01 (black) MOC SS has some minor dings and scratches that could use a touch-up. Mostly I'm concerned about a couple area where it's down to the white -- scratches and one mark where somebody banged a door into it Looks like a little touch-up would keep it from going through to the metal and rusting, but I don't know how to go about it, if any prep work is involved, how many layers to put on, etc, or what brand to use. I'm a little bit of an artist so I know something about paint, but nothing about auto paint.
Also, there is one small area where prior repair and repaint was done, and it looks good except there is a dull paint area where the old and new meet. What should I put on that area? Thanks!

Frustrated -- just spent the past half hour getting the pictures on here (I thought) -- they downloaded, I labelled them, but then I couldn't move them to a place where I could hit "post' and then they disappeared. I don't know where they went. Any suggestions?
I really, really hate Windows. None of it makes sense to me.

If you got them downloaded from your device then you need to upload them to the reply here. the upload is in the red tool bar on the right side.
So in this reply if I wanted to add some photo's I would click on the tool bar icon next to the paper clip that looks like a square with mountains in it. that gets you to where you want to be to upload them.
You can see where one paint job stops and another starts. Hard to see in most light, but it feels like I should put something on the duller area to protect it.
Ping! Here's a twofer--you can also see the scratches above. I am most concerned with protecting the car, rather than making the finish perfect. Tiny specks are dust and pollen.
Door seam -- numerous small nicks here. One very small nick (in or near this area) might have a touch of rust . Lots of dust here shown.
Ping, scratches, and nicks. All the damage is on the same side. There is also some paint loss on the back bumper, but at least I don't have to worry about that rusting.
Well it looks like you got the photo's uploaded.
I have had similar issues because of the black paint, I see little cracks in mine now too.
The first one appears to be a loss of clear coat, most of the others can be touch up paint.
When I was working on some of the issues with mine I went to Auto geek . com and I found they had some video's on how to stuff. The dings can be pulled using one of those little dent pullers that are available you put some glue on the ding and then work out the dent with a puller a bunch on the market. Only do it when it is warm out. Dr. Color chip is another place I found that has paint that will work and they also had some how to stuff.
