Aftermarket headlights.

Aftermarket headlights.
Has anyone here purchased aftermarket headlights for 2000-05 monte carlos? If so how'd they turn out and were they any good? I've been thinking about replacing mine with some of those black ones on ebay or smoke ones which I can't find at the moment, and maybe upgrading to HID but I need to know more about the difficulty of installing kits before I dump my plans for silverstars. I've heard about people frying their car wiring with HIDs so that's kind of a worry that I have about that.
Any help is appreciated, keep in mind that I have little working knowledge involving electrical matters but am movitated to learn.

I have a set of the black headlights with amber corners (I'm probably the only guy that prefers the amber corner over the clear). They "bolt" right in and fit properly. Everyone that has gotten them has had the same complaint, gray glue visible at the bottom on the inside of the lens where the headlight was assembled. It's not much and barely visible from a distance, yet still, it shouldn't be there. Also, on the set I have the rubber that acts as a gasket/buffer between the headlight and body was not glued on very well, both glue adhesion and position. This was easily solved by pulling the rubber off and gluing it back on (positioned right this time) with some 3M black weatherstrip adhesive.

Was just curious if there was a knock-off on ebay that was cheaper quality that forced all those fixes.
Was planning on buying mine through E-bay, like I did with my LED tails to avoid the mark-up.

So, wait, there's two brands that make the same headlights. Which is better and who makes the original? I definitely would rather spend the extra money for a better pair. I mean, if I'm going to do it, I might as well do it right. Thanks guys.

No, there's multiple sellers/retailers for the same headlights. The only difference as far as the black headlights go is the clear or amber corner lens. Which when I checked ebay earlier today to see the prices of the black headlights I didn't see the clear corner version. So the clear corner version/option may no longer be available.
As for who makes the black headlights, I"m not sure, but I do believe I remember someone saying they were made in Taiwan.
