Default 7th Generation Tails

My taillights have been cracked since I bought the car. Granted, the cracks were inside the lenses (smooth to the touch - but you could see them) - but they've finally weakened enough that they've cracked completely and are taking on water. I've also never cared for the design of the 6th gen tails and the LED ones look almost identical.

Recently I found a GREAT deal on tails from a member who switched his 7th gen to LEDs so he had these. Even gave me the bulbs (mine were so hazed) - just needed the harness swapped over (which means they'll still function like 6th gen lights - brake on bottom ONLY and turns on top).

See the difference?

they look great! but now here's the shin kicker, do your tail lights work the way they are supposed to? have someone press the brake pedal and watch, then test the blinkers, then the blinkers and brake lights at the same time

i did the swap on mine already, the wiring was different for the newer tails

They don't work like the 7th gens because I used my harness from the old ones.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when you brake (or when your lights come on at night with the headlights) all 4 lights come on and turn signals are the bottom lights.

On mine - the bottoms are the only ones on constantly with the headlights - they're also the only brake lights and the top 2 only come on as turn signals. I know someone on here found the way to modify the stock harness to function that way for 6th gens without buying an updated harness.

Did you keep your existing harness when you swapped them? I don't know why you'd run into problems if you kept your factory harness since the new tails are just housing - the electrical part would stay the same.

lol, now that you say it, no i didnt lol, i made it work with the 3 wires... i REALLY wish i would have thought of that because i went through too many headaches over a set of taillights... i make REALLY dumb mistakes once in a while, chock that one up in that catagory

but i have it set up so the bottoms are the running lights and the blinkers, and the tops come on when i hit the brakes

looks good!

I wish the 06/07 ones had more black in them for some more contrast, but they look good.

Do they have LEDs in them or is that just the box they shipped them in?
