i mash the gas and hopefully the cop get caught at the red light during rush hour lol. . that's license plate is a cover, just didn't want to expose my license numbers on the internet. no problem with the police yet hopefully i won't ever either. usually when i get in the 'burbs that's when i have to be careful. i don't have front plate either that's even make it risky of getting pull over. front window tint law in illinois is legal now (35%) so i don't think the cop want to pull me over for tinted tails i hope not!

btw those are not VHT. it's paint. i had some dude from grand prix club painted them.

hey if they changed a law about tint, i would just keep your reciept and tell the cop that your grandfathered in. then i would do a burnout on his foot.

cool i used a product from rustoleom for my reverse lights. spent about 11 bucks on it. now i have to spend 25 for new reverse light housings. lol

unless paint thinner would work................ maybe i should take them off the car for that.

Nah.... :P Tinted mine on the stang, reverse is driving backwards blindfolded at night. I used covers on my monte before. As for opening them and tinting inside, you can do that route. make sure the bulbs wont over heat the tint and make it bubble though.

x2 I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out.

That's the opposite of here. All the cars are running LED tails and only a handful of pickups have tinted lights (only seen it done on a few black pickups, blends in awesome).

I think tinting vs LEDs depends on your car and color scheme. I wanted mine black so that they'd tie in with the stripes, wheels, and windows. The funny thing is, after tinting mine I can't stand to be behind someone with non-tinted tails at night, way brighter than they need to be.

The cool thing about Wyoming is that it's legal so long as you can still see them light up red from so far away. I've been followed by cops many times and they've never said anything about the tails.

I still see a lot of the alteza style tail lights. Not many tinted or LED. The ones with the tinted tail though are usually the ricers, and usually it's dull and looks like crap.

Default thinking of tinting my tails

I was thinking of using the VHt to tint my tails, How is the visibility once they are done? How many coats will I need. (I read somewhere to do 3 coats)
Does anybody have a before and after pic of the lights(at night)

thanks for any info

The norm is 3 coats and then a few coats of clear, but you can do how ever many you want based on the level of tint you want it to be. Visibility is generally fine when the lights are on.

I think you'd have to contact him for the price, but here's a shot of them:
