Camaro looks way better, very nice stance. The front fascia of the GT-R is just awkward looking.

Dollar for dollar the ZL1 is clearly the winner. Something else that needs to be considered is mags like Road & Track, Car & Driver, Consumer Reports, etc. used to be all about bringing the facts to the table and equal comparisons. Now they are biased and promote the product of the manufacturer that dumps the most $$$ into their back pocket. The 'comparison' of these two cars is a perfect example of that. It's the same thing as comparing a $500 LCD TV to a $1000 Plasma TV. Which do you think would have the better picture?
Its actaually a fair comparison when u take in the fact of dealer markup when this thing comes out, do u honestly believe ur gonna beable to buy one for 55k? Maybe after a year or 2 its just gonna be like when the camaro came back out it had a 5-10k markup on the sticker price, ZR1s were 20k over, same with the first gt500 they were goin for 75k when they came out so that price difference will be drasticly different when it show rooms & on top of that its gonna depreciate alot faster then the GTR will in value

Wow, I didn't know that simply expressing my opinion would warrant such a defensive response. Obviously I'm not the only one that thinks the ZL1 is the better deal considering the poll is currently 17/2 in favor of the ZL1. I have no problem agreeing to disagree. Everyone has their own opinion and more than entitled to it. I just don't see it as a fair comparison considering the $40,000+ difference in price. According to the info I read the $55,000 price I quoted for the ZR1 is the base price at the dealership including destination (shipping) charges. I couldn't find any info regarding the price of the GT-R so I don't know if that is the base price prior to shipping or the base price at the dealership. You will certainly increase the price of the ZL1 with options, dealer prep, tax, license, etc. but that is also true about the price of the GT-R. All I know is I could do an awful lot of mods to a ZL1 with $40,000.

I would take the GTR. Why, personally I think they are sweet, and they are pretty rare around here. Everyone and their mom drives a Camaro, v6 or v8. Not to mention the quality and technology put into the GTR is insane. Every part on the car has probably had more thought put into it then the whole Camaro did.
Not to mention if you talk about cost you have to add in resale. Anyone want to compare the prices of a 99 r-34 GTR to a 99 Camaro SS?

Im not talking bout the price u read online or the lil markups the dealers do, im talking about the BIG markup they will do sence its a new car that ppl are gonna buy the dealers will add an extra 10 grand or more to the price GTR doesnt have that & theres no options fore it so its 97k out the door, the GTR is a rare car to see ive only ever seen 3 sence they have been out & ill bet ill see 5 or more ZL1s in the first year there out, ive seen a ton of ZR1s too GTR i think is way better than the ZL1 will ever be

Theres a Silver R34 in St Louis running around so easy to find but compare it with our price for a 99 Camaro SS vs Japans price for a 99 GTR, the GTR still worth more even after the reduction for the new price difference

I mean and if you are bringing price into this, that would mean some broken pile of crap cavalier is better then a zr-1, because with $100,000 in modifications you can make it better.

These two cars aren't in the same class as Mike said. The GTR is more suited for a class with the Viper/ZR1/911. But saying the Camaro is better based on the fact it is American and cheaper is probably the funniest thing I've read all week.
