RE: Your $0.02 Worth
I asked the seller, if the car's been involved in an accidet is it under a salvage t-i-tle? He said the t-i-tle is clear.
So that's a plus.
I too thought about asking to borrow it for 24 hours and driving straight to my favorite body shop to see what they say about the car?
As for wrenching on the car, that's no problem. I'm not fond of having to "Attempt" to work on newer cars but it can be done.

Well then here is what I would do. DOUBLE check the title with your secretary of state, just because he said its clear doesn't mean anything...If it is clear, that means that the A-Pillar damage was minimal and I would DEFINITELY take it to your body shop and have them look at it...A weld is only as strong as the welder...and bondo a lot of times is a body shop's best friend instead of replacing the damaged part...I don't believe that but insurance companies sure do. ) If everything checks out okay and your body shop gives you the thumbs up, I would offer $4000 and see where he goes from there...Go to your local GM dealership with a VIN and have them run a VIS check and make sure the mileage is accurate and what kind of work has been done on the car while under warranty.

I am not sure who enters the information in for Carfax, but yes, you will need to pay for a report. If you do a VIS check at a dealership, it is free. I'm not sure how much information after the car is out of warranty a VIS check has though. I know it can verify mileage. The best thing would to check with the secretary of state on the status of the title.

I still plan on looking the car over tomorrow. And the seller sent another email asking if I was coming? So I responded I was.
I definately want to find out about the "A" pillar repair. Cause that's going to be a weak selling point on the car. Last thing I want is a car that's more trouble then it's worth.
And stopping at the Chevy dealer and asking them to look up the history of the car is a real good idea.
Dave. Thanks for the Alt0162 info. I tried it twice and it didn't work for me?
