tune up is replacing the spark plugs air filter fuil filter and oil at the same time. good rule of thumb is if you are putting the miles on your car and doing more oil changes but not replacing the spark plugs and the other filters i mentioned. it is time to replace to make sure you are getting the economy and the pep like you should

i usually do mine to help keep down the price of the mantenence. if i am unable to do some thing or dont have the time i have my dealer do it they only do it for 80 for a tune up. but not all dealers do that the one i go to wants the buisness and rather cut and hurt them selfs on caughst of labor but volume of people makes up for that.

I had some @ss down the street from me say, "yeeeeah, uhhhh, we do the whol dealee fro tree fidy. We uh, do premium filters, and throw in some new plugs widda lifatime wirees. Just common down and we have yuh set widdin nuh day. Soun gode?"
NO JOKE!!! This place*shaking head* its a wonder they're staying in bussiness. There's word around town, they sell drugs out of their shop. I went there once looking for an estimate and there was actually bottles of beer and whatnot just laying around the shop and it is just nasty like a dump.
This is 100% truthfull no lie no joke! Im serious. Amazing huh?

according to what i learned in school, a tune up consists of:
1: Changing spark plugs
2: changing plug wires
3: replacing the air filter
4: replacing the PCV valve
5: replacing the fuel filter
6: replacing the distributor cap & rotor ( if the vehicle is so equipped.)
technicly, having the oil filter and oil changed is classified as an oil change, and is usually billed as a seperate service.
