Thank god for quick thinking. I had a friend who crashed a 70's olds 98 into a tree because of a stuck throttle. He was ok the car and the tree not so much.

You should look into Husky Liners - they are thin but molded rubberized flexible plastic. They are thin and protect better than regular mats. They are expensive though - but worth every penny. http://www.autoanything.com/floor-mats/64A1456A0A0.aspx
