I used to live in Indiana so I'm a Colts guy, which means I'm a Manning guy as well. People can talk down on him all they want. But there is still a reason why he is one of, if not the best QB in the game. But he is also not on the Colts team anymore. With that said, as long as him and the Broncos take out Brady and the Patriots I will be happy. From there I could care less who wins the Super Bowl. If I had to guess it's either going to be the Broncos and the 49er's or the Broncos and the Seahawks. I think with how the Seahawks have been playing this year, if they can get past the 49er's they will take the Super Bowl. I think they want it more then anyone else. But again, as long as Manning can take down Brady I will be happy.

Woah now!!!
In Regular season, yes i will agree, one of, if not THE best.
Post season? He has way too many post season losses.
The reason Dan Marino, Jim Kelly aren't brought up as much as Joe Montana or Brett Farve is because no Superbowl rings.
Both excellent in Regular season, Just can do that post season.
I think Peyton fits in with them. Unfortunately you need those big bowl winning rings, And while he has one, His brother, with an 8-8 record BOTH seasons has 2. That's saying something.
That post season counts towards you.

That said, i like Peyton, he isn't a total douche, he is funny as hell!

I like Manning a lot, but I can't bring myself to wear a #18 - any guesses why? Here's a hint: Thomas is #88

I've got this sport figured out and lead the football pool at work. I got everyone in the pool cornered (other than my wife and I'm really proud of her for that too). After the Broncos win Sunday, either her or I will have clinched the live-changing $200 purse without another game starting, each of us only calling one playoff game wrong (but they different games as we pick completely independant). Even in the highly unlikely event that the Broncos lose, I'll likely still win the money.

Hi `Brent & Member's,
You & member's have the power to start a new Football thread on this topic. I haven't had the luxury to follow football & don't get the chance to watch to much T.V.

I just know the games are very important to the majority of workers at my job in the warehouses. That's a major topic in the break room @ work. Feel free to highjack this thread or start another one where member's can post their projected winner & scores. Wish you & member's the time to enjoy watching your team(s) > EnJoy 4-Sure

I'm so tired of hearing that. It's a narrow sighted unoriginal statement. For one thing, Manning has never lost more than one post season game in a season. That's how the NFL works. The vast majority of quarterbacks will never play as many playoff games as Manning. So the fact that he has taken a non-Superbowl caliber team to the playoffs repeatedly - that somehow is supposed to be held against him? That doesn't make sense to me at all. Seems like we'd be scoring against him for making the playoffs. Eli is better because he misses the playoffs more often? I wouldn't say the post season is all that counts either. Maybe in hockey, where practically every team makes the playoffs anyways. More teams are eliminated in the season than the post-season.

And I think Dan Marino is brought up as much as Montana and Favre. Maybe not Kelly tho.

In any even, there's no point in comparing Manning to anything by any quarterback in the past, because Manning (and the Broncos) just had a better season than any quarterback/team has ever had. We're on unprecedented ground now.

At least there's football interest on here. There's yet to be anyone interested in talking hockey.

Not really a pro football fan but here's my take. I can't stand Jim Harbaugh, and it has nothing to do with his run in with Jim Schwartz last season. I'm tired of hearing about Peyton Manning every freakin' day. I guess I should say New England because Brady is a product of University of Michigan.

Hockey has become a gong show of politics and I haven't forgiven them for last year's strike yet. The season is so saturated anyways. Have you ever done the math on how many actual games are in a season? By my math it's 1230, not counting the playoffs. More than half the teams make the playoffs, so those 1230 game don't mean much. Canadian teams, like Toronto (most over rated franchise in any and all sports) sell tickets at min. $300 per seat (nose bleeds) and sell out every home game. That single Winter Classic game between the Leafs and the Wings in Detroit profited $20,000,000! And the players get their salaries capped? The NHL is a gluttonous organization.

Would you rather hear more about Tebow? I can't, for the life of me, figure out why that guy get so much press...

You might be sick of hearing it, But 6-12 in the post season after demolishing the regular season isn't saying much.
I never said he wasn't a good, even great QB. He is no doubt one of the best, But the best ever? Not with the Post season record.
He choked year after year throwing a game losing interception in 9 different post season games.
And Eli, Eli is not one of the greats, no one ever calls Eli one of the greats, even though he has 2 rings.
You need a good mix of Regular season and Post season to become one of the greatest, and neither Manning can do that for some reason.

Another way I look at it:

How many people have SuperBowl rings? Or more than 1 SuperBowl rings? That would be tough to figure out. How many people have thrown 55 TD in a season? Or even 57 (still counting) in a single season/ post season? That honor belongs to one.

And it's not like he's never won the SuperBowl. But that is a team honor, not a player honor.

I'd say Manning is the best QB of all time this year. I won't count previous years, just like I won't count future years, in which obviously he won't continue to be the best. He's the best right now. But in all honesty, I probably trade him for someone like Kaepernick or Luck who has many good years left.
