im thinking about getting a secondary car for cruisin. maybe a 86 monte carlo ss because i can still find some on the cheaper side. alot of people watch too much tv and have a rust bucket but still think its worth 10 grand. any opinions?

For me it comes down to this list of requirements. If it meets them then its almost a guarentee that I like. Requirement number one is that it is rear wheel drive. Requirement number two, it has five tires. Yup its got to have a spare. That pretty much sums it up.
Mr.Monte I like your list with a few substitutions. The firebirds would have to be Bandit edition Trans ams, drop the 78 Monte but add the 80.
I also love wagons. A few of my favorites are the 60, 61, and 64 Ford Country Squire, the 63 thru 67 Plymouth Fury, 66-67 Chevy Nova, 65-72 Olds Vista Cruiser, 56-57 Chevy Bel Air and Nomad, 76-80 Dodge Aspen-Plymouth Volare, 80-81 Chrysler LeBaron - Dodge Diplomat 72-76 Olds Custom Cruiser.
I don't care so much for four door cars but a four door hardtop always looked nice in my eyes. I had a 67 Plymouth Fury III four door hardtop and would love another.
My all time favorite is a 65 Plymouth Fury III 2 door hardtop. I also like the 86 Pontiac Gran Prix 2+2 and the 83-88 Monte Carlo SS and Aero coupe. The Regals and Cutlass Supremes are also nice. Add to this list the 73-74 Plymouth Satelite Sebring Plus - Roadrunner, 70 Superbird, 66-69 Dodge Charger, 71-72 Charger, 73-74 Dodge Charger SE

I also agree that some cars are grossly over priced. I am sad that speculators have gotten involved in our hobby and made some cars unreachable.

I'm a big Camaro fan, that's my #1 favorite and to be specific, the 3rd gens ('82-'92). I also like the Camaro's sibling, the Firebirds.
Here's a few others:
- 1970 Chevelle
- 4th Gen Monte Carlo SS
- Grand National
- Last generation of the GTO (I forget what years that ran)
- Stingray Corvettes (the 70's style ones, I believe the 2nd generation of them)

Just to add to the picture below I have a couple I'd like to have 68 or 69 Dodge Hemi. Or a BOSS 429 Mustang. With the Chevelle I have I sometimes have to much fun!! really is there such a thing as too much fun??? YES there is. When a COP pulls up next to you and waves his finger at you saying NO NO! Then its time to turn that HOT ROD around and head for the barn.

I'm also a huge Camaro fan. My favorite are the 2nd gens (70-81). I do like the 3rd gens a lot as well (I miss my IROC) but I'm lucky enough to have my 73. I also like the mid 80s Grand Prixs and Montes as well as the GNs. I also have a thing for the late 60s-early 70s Novas. I know most people like the Chevelles but there's just something about the Nova that I like. Slightly further down on the list are the Vegas (both body styles). And my dream car before I fell in love with the 2nd Gen Camaros was the 63 Corvette Stingray.
