What is the WS6 option on a LS1, 2002 Trans Am? My bro is thinking about getting a 2002 trans am, ram air with a 5.7L v8, and im wondering what the WS6 model has over other ones. Thnx if anyone knos!

its got a we bit more horse power. i think they got it from a change in headers and a bit different of a tune. the firehawk is much more different tho. and you get the ram air hood, ws6 badges, and wheels. if he is going to mod the crap out of it anyhow hes better off getting a normal ls1 firebird, transam, camaro. cus eventually they will be the same.

 

does the ws6 come with six speeds or something like that?

 

Like 15 hp and 25 tq
Plus the ram air I think was only a WS6 deal, atleast in stock form.
I heard that there is a difference in suspension but I don't know if that's true or not.

Like said already if you plan on modding it than I'd say they an LS1 powered TA will work just fine wether it's WS6, FireHawk, or just the TA

 

it is a six speed. i beleive that all the trans ams including the 6 cylenders were equipped with either a 6 speed manual or 4 speed auto.

 

Id say start with the WS6.

 

WS6 is the top of the Firebird food chain for everything! Good starting point. If someone wants to build a car to go FAST, GM wise, you start with an F-body and go from there. You can get them to hook and go. Nothing will touch them in that department. A couple of twin turbos, and he's got a 1,000 hp beast!

 

It was nothing more than a ram air package on the standard LS1... it seems like they didn't even change hte hp ratings but I could be wrong. The WS6 has a little different trims, it's rim's say "WS6" inside of them, and it has a VERY aggressive looking hood to give it the ram air.

And the V6 Firebirds of that year came with a 4 speed auto and a 5 speed manual.. onlythe Formula and Trans Am came with a 6 speed.

 

Ws6 is a package offered that includes a few handling mods.
