Probably explain where i been.
Well computer crashed a while back.
After a few weeks of trying to fix it myself i waved the white flag and sent it in.
Had a bunch of problems and cost me a shiny penny, but i have it back now.
And My Monte.... well... Im stuck in a tough situation
She lost her fourth gear. I knew it was coming and i tried to prevent it from going as much as i could with the hope it would make it till August . I don't quite have the money to fix it and iv lost the will to keep her. But in the condition its in, i wont be able to get much to anything for it. Not sure what to do.

Hi Member's,
What should `Jon do ? What would you do if you were Jon ?

============================================

Hi `Jon, we are sorry to read about the problems that you have been facing with your computer & with your awesome Chevy Monte Carlo ?

Do you graduate this year ? Are you still working ?
Did you get a price on repairing your trans ?

What other problems are you having with your Monte ?

How much do you think you need for repairs ?

Is your Monte still in the garage ?

Can your father help ? or your sister's (lol)

Maybe a few of our member's can post some suggestions.

We wish you the best in Life & with your Chevy Monte Carlo

I too am sorry to hear about how things are going with your nice Monte Jon. What I have learned in life is everyone gets what they want. Money has a way of coming to a person, parts for these cars are interchangable with other vehicles. Bet you could get a tranny for a song and a dance. The tranny might be something you try to replace yourself, I mean if one human can do it so can you. Does your high school have a auto repair shop? They take on projects to teach students automotive basics. So just park the Monte instead of giving it away, form a plan to scavenge a used tranny, source out a way to have it installed (yourself, friends dad, schools) and be the captain of your Monte's destiny.
Guess the real question is do you really want to keep it or are you actually itching for another type of car. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to get another car, everyone does eventually, your a young man and change can do a person good in life. So guess it's really what do you want???? Best of luck bro with what ever path you take...."Life is Beautiful"

Some great advise above! Thats too nice of a car to be given away cuz its worth "little or nothing". Though not convenient, a bum tranny can be salvaged for "little or nothing". I would not give up on that ride, but that is just me...

Thanks Member's for your advice, help & comments for `Jon
============================================

`Jon, I hope that you don't have to sell it the way it is, or part it out...Have you got any estimates on repairs ? Do you know anyone that could help you do the repairs ?

I think you could get more of your $'s for your Monte if it was repaired...You have a beautiful Monte S.S. 4-Sure..

Or you could sell it for whatever & you could become a full-time
, get your board & ride your bike to the beach & just hang out @ the beach.

Please post more details about your problem (?), maybe one of our member's can help or find the parts you need.
Don't give `up & take a major loss without exploring every available option...Good Luck 4-Sure...
Peace/Out from `Space

I like the advise Zippy gave and was gonna say the same thing. school auto shops are constantly in need of work. Also maybe you could pull the transmission out yourself to save on the labor cost and then take it in for repair or rebuild.

I will buy it for "little or nothing"... JK DON'T SELL IT

I see no reason to give up on it or just get rid of it. Of course you may not be skilled at fixing it but there are plenty of ways to get it in perfect running condition again, may take time but that's just how it goes. If money is an issue then your definitely not going to find a better ride for the price in which you could have yours fixed. Either way I wish you the best keep us posted on whatever you decide

Jon have you tried a fluid and filter change? This may give you some more time before a rebuild. Where in Florida are you?
