I can relate. Thru the years I've owned a few Chevy's and also a few other GM's. With the exception of my 75 Olds Cutlass Supreme, an 80 Chevy Chevette, and my 81 Monte Carlo, every one of them has left me walking. It happens. Every one of my GM cars was a nice car. Nice body, nice interior, and ran good right up to the minute they didn't run at all. Crap happens.

I've had pretty good luck with every make I've owned. Things broke, of course, but nothing out of the ordinary. Usually one major breakdown, repair it and it was good to go. Then I bought my first Ford...

As I stated in other threads, most of my early cars were driven into a junk yard and I got more miles out of them. With the cars I drove all prior to my move to Florida in 99 there wers some things that tended to remain consistent. With my Mopars I changed a starter or alternator and drove it until the body was unsafe or wouldn't pass state inspection. GM cars had nice bodies, nice interiors and bad engines and or transmissions. They generally gave no warning they were about to expire too. I didn't have many Fords but the ones I did have had calamity strike, vandalized, stolen, or repoed. The few Hondas I had were garbage, rusted unmercifully and smoked like crazy. I had Subarus and they had rust issues. Y-pipes, axels cv joints, and radiators were the issues there. Toyotas were always body issues. Running gear kept going even after the body fell off.

My boss in the junk yard felt if you could still have energy to work on a car then you had energy to work in the yard and get paid. Using the shop for a major project like changing out a motor or tranny usually didn't get done. Minor jobs were no problem. I could go on and on about my former employer but this is a family site.

My Monte is my daily driver, i've owned it since new, and have taken excellent care of it since day one. It looks like a new car inside and out, but it has 155,000 miles on it. It still runs like it did new too, so I plan to keep/ drive the car for as many miles as it will take me. I love my Monte, mine is my daily driven baby!
