Scooby doo answered it. CNG is compressed natural gas. It's a very viable fuel. A gasoline motor can operate it as a sole fuel source (most conversions allow a quick switch between fuels and still retain the gas tank). Fuel mileage is very similar to using gas (although most conversions use a much smaller tank) and it burns cleaner. The biggest seller is that gas averages between 3.20 and 3.40 a gallon. CNG is around 1.70 a gallon. It'll cost a bit up front for the conversion, but when you're paying little over half, it pays off, especially as many miles as I drive each year. I'd probably pay off such a conversion in a year or two just in fuel savings, and I plan on keeping my next truck for the better part of the next decade. Since I'll still have the gas tank, I'll be able to just use gas when I go to other states where it's not plentiful.

1971 Corvette to go along with my factory 4 speed original owner 78 Monte. Noticed some other guys also drive Vettes, and I haven't seen a Citation in 10 years, I remember when they introduced those... and the X11 "performance" version, had 2.8 liters and a 5 speed... I think. I remeber a Chevy salesman saying that the Citation was the beginning of a new muscle car era... he ws right but took about 30 years for the Big 3 to figure it out.
