What do you do for a living?

In part of getting to know you, what is it you do for work? how do you make your $$ to keep you Monte running? its interesting to know what everyone's professions are :)

I clean houses. Since my husband is my main source of income its only fair that i let you know where i get my main monte $$: he is a stainless steel fabricator. His company focuses on kitchens. He belongs to Sheet Metal Workers local 12 union.

I build motors, seals, and pumps that go to the oil fields. I'm a production team lead over my department. Some of the stuff we build goes way down into the ground. I don't have a Monte anymore so my money goes into my Camaros (sorry, the second gen Camaro is my first love and I now have two of them). I'm also in the Army Reserves.

I also volunteer tracking and spotting storms for the NWS in my free time.

I'll start work on finishing my degree in the next year or so.

KillerB 05-30-2014 04:55 AM

I am a auto mechanic, not to be confused with a auto tech. I get down and dirty and diagnose the problem and repair it, no like a auto tech that just parts swaps till something happens, ask me how I know.

no need to be sorry! to each his own. i like some camero's. the new ones mainly. ive actually thought of replacing Nightmagic with one in a few years. its a cross between that and a 2013 Audi S4.

@ KillerB- sounds like you make a great addition here then.
and for
all the techs..this is a great place to learn more.

I am a SR. Computer programmer Analyst / EDI Specialist for a global OEM auto parts manufacturer.

We make vibration control devices (balance shafts, dampeners ect...) We also make powder metal parts (Push rods, casings, transmission parts ect..) Just about anything to do with metal and noise control on cars.

Some of our customers are Jaguar, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, Cummins, Detroit diesel and the list goes on. I have been with my employer 15 years now.

I write mainly EDI programs. EDI is the exchange of electronic documents between us, our customers and our suppliers. I also write business applications.

We have plants in North America, south America, Chez republic, Germany, France, India, South Korea, Japan and China.

I will retire in about two years at age 62. I have a part time job offer after that with friends at Mason Auto Body. I want to work on cars with my hands and not crunch code behind a desk at that point.

My name is Aaron by the way and I go to school at Purdue and I study Aeronautical Engineering Technology....a mouthful, i know :) but basically that means that I have an engineering background when dealing with planes, however I am also able to adapt to a role in aviation business/management. I will also be recieving my Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate, so I'll be able to fit into any hangar setting as well as perform maintenance on the aircraft....anything planes, and I'm your guy haha

I'm burned out on the styling cues that the first gens and the new ones have cause it's all I see at car shows. I love the 70-81 models, especially the 70-73 (like my 73, although my 78 isn't bad looking either).

It'll just be nice when I'm done with school and making a lot more money than I am now but I still have a few years there.

For the last 4 years I had worked at Best Buy part time and with my dad, doing bathroom remodels and kitchen remodels, when I wasn't working there. And about 3 months ago I had started doing car detailing on the side. On my second job, which was about a months ago, I did an older Fox body mustang for a guy who is a manager of a mechanics shop. The owner saw the work I did and offered me a job detailing cars. So for the last 3 weeks I have been detailing cars which is a passion for me. Money is much much better and my days literally go by in the blink of an eye. I have thoroughly enjoyed my last 3 weeks.

I work at a steel company, we buy sell flatten, fabricate, pretty much anything steel related we do. I started in october and this job is the reason why a lot of my projects have moved by faster. Now that I'm here I don't think I'll be looking for another job. They treat us good and the fact that the ceo knows me by first name and actually haves conversation with us makes me feel at home haha

Thats awesome. always good when the company shows they care about employees. i hope they have good ventilation. my hubby has an auto immune disorder and there is poor ventilation at his job working with stainless and his health is going downhill because of it. if it wasnt for the $$ he would have found a new job.

so many cool jobs! thank you all for sharing :)

xxtheshockerxx 05-30-2014 08:23 PM

I currently detail cars. I have been doing it for 12 years now. I guess you could say that's what keeps the Monte looking good.
