If I wanted a car at the exact same moment as the monte- it would've been a 92 Caprice- the bubble body style with a 5.0L in blue metallic up top with the silver bottom. Definitely would've been a lot different going that route.
Had I waited another year or so- I had some other friends get into GM cars, one of which got a 97 GP GT which led me to learn about the GTP's. That probably would've been my pick had I waited that much longer (never thought at the time that I would end up owning 3 GP's at various times, lol).

When I bought my '88 SS in 1995 the GM options for a V-8 RWD, full frame 2 dr vehicle with seating for 4 were non-existent for a new car ;>(
I would have probably modified my criteria and "settle" for a F-body with an LT1 and T56.

Not many choices when I was looking, and now that I look back my short list would have included a 3 series BMW, Subaru Impreza WRX (no sti those are hideous) Impala, or a Colorado.
So really it would have to have been the Subaru the Colorado or the Monte/Impala, as the 3 series RWD wouldn't work well in our winters, granted, I probably would have gotten one anyway, drifting on snow is a heck of a lot of fun.
