@Keanne - Sometimes you have to look at the company and how they value employees. For the generation before me, the idea was much like your dad is instilling in you "work hard, they will see it". Kinda like I was getting at "be a company guy, be dedicated, it will pay off in the long run". There are companies that do still value that and will reward dedication. But in the case of me and the bank I spent 11 years with, despite all that I learned, the education THEY paid for and the things I could produce and different hats I wore, in the end, to this big bank, I was a nobody, easy to replace.
Where I'm at now, I don't feel that way. I am a much more of a "cog" in a bigger machine. I am a valued person. Not everyday is a ray of sunshine where I am at, but I have more good then bad. And unlike my time at the bank, I am met with new and stimulating challenges (something good for an I.T. guy).
No one can tell you what is best for you. That is something you have to make a decision of.
Alright, it's too late for me to keep going all philosophical about career choices lol.

I like to think that i'm valued and needed due to the work i do and rediculous schedule i follow, but i just don't get that feeling. Who knows...
