lol, why cover up the vin, when you can just put a sticky note on the dash, that says "note to self, get brakes" and "fix that sticky gas pedal" or "fix that darn gas leak"

Why not just put a "Toyota" name plate on instead? Same thing isn't it?

I have, in the past, had a copy key made with no I.D. Nothing but the vin. When I asked them what they needed, they replied,"just give us the vin# when you come in." I asked, "thats all I need, you dont need an ID, because the car isnt mine?" They replied, "well if the car title isnt in your name, we will need assurance from the owner of the car." So, I had the owner, my now father in law, call the dealership and "OK" it. They made up the key and had it ready for me to pick it up a couple days later.

The whole point of this is, there was no proof of who they were really talking to on the phone. It could have been me making a different voice. This, and I wont mention the name, was a reputable dealership and I just couldnt belive they allowed that.

Ever since then, I have had duct tape over the vin's on all my car. So this is true, it can happen. Be carefull.
