So as I was looking for stuff on YouTube, I fall pray to some of the other videos they show me. This blew my mind! I saw the first video and this guy is now on his 3rd video on the topic (he gives a summary of the project in each video, so you can get the general gist of things watching the 3rd video, that I am sharing). He has what looks like a bit of a beater, Ford Maverick with a 302 v8 and fabricated the resources to strap a lawn mower carb to it! Given things he did in the video to prove he was driving with that carb, I am taking him at his word! This was pretty crazy and crazier yet, it seems to work!
I really hope it does not later come out that I fell for a hoax video series.

I seen this video a little while ago, pretty interesting build. Here's a link to another build that is a game changer. Unfortunately it never went to production. But there's tons of articles about Smokey Yunick and his inventions.

Well GM wasn't happy with a 4 cylinder car producing better numbers than the Corvette. Smokey returned the car minus the engine , of course. Definitely a shame concidering what he did in his lifetime. Between Nascar inovations and helping design the big block Chevy the man was a legend. Not sure what happened with the pattern ( one of many) he registered.

As I recall, GM lied about factory HP ratings on the 1989 Turbo Trans Am because they exceeded the Corvette of the time. Funny how things can be lol.
From what I read the SY4 (Smokey Yunick) produced around 300 HP , the stock Fiero 2.5 liter was around 91 HP. And being a lot lighter than the Corvette the power/weight ratio wasn't even comparable. Although Pontiac actually made a few Super Duty (2.7 liter 300 HP) pace cars for the Indy race GM wasn't going to allow a cheaper car outperform there most expensive and new design (1984) sports car .
