Turned away from my first car show today...

Turned away from my first car show today...
Went online and found a car show about 45 minutes away...it was a benefit show for Muscular Dystrophy. Since I had nothing to do today and it was a beautiful day to drive...I decided to head down to benefit a worthy cause...
I pull into the show area and there's a big sign - Show Cars $10 - Spectators $5.
So I tell the guy I'm there to enter and he tells me I can't - I don't have a show car. "What determines a show car then?" I ask, "is it age?"
He looks at my car and says,"What's so special about a Monte Carlo?", to which I replied, "Ten dollars for Muscular Dystrophy."
He's obviously confused by this time - so I give him a second or two to mull it over. As he's standing there contemplating the fate of the known automotive world, I notice a Honda tuner with Lambo doors...so I ask, "What makes that car so special?"
He says, "That's a tuner - we have a category for those."
"I see..." says I, "but you don't have a category for me, huh?" Ok, have a nice day...and I banged a U-turn and left...
It's a complete shame that people think that the only cars that matter are really old ones or really stupid-looking ones with Lambo-doors, stupid paint jobs, and garbage-can mufflers.

you know it was some retard with a honda shirt on. hey btw, why is it a "tuner"? nothing is really tuned up about 80% of them, except the looks. more of a "looker", and not a good one at that. can somebody come up with a better term that "looker" or "tuner"?

Sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately there are those that don't consider "new" cars to be show worthy. I was at a show about a month ago and overheard someone talking to someone else talking about how a new car shouldn't be allowed to enter unless they actually have something done to it. I can sort of see their point of view, but back in the day when the classic and muscle cars were new, they had car shows to show them off all the time. It really isn't any different now than it was then. Some people are just ignorant like that.

What a load of BS!
You know, one major thing that irritates those of us who own older/Classic cars is the guy/gal who pulls into a show in NEW, fresh from the dealership car or truck at a show. And they win a trophy!!
Like what the #$#%^& did they do to it other then drive it here?
But still, if it had been my show I'd have let you in no problem.

Thanks fellas...Ya know, I made sure to shower and bathe before I left, I put on my best NY Yankees cap (maybe that was it...Hmmm), and I even vacuumed out the interior (like it needed it...bah).
The guy taking the money was an old dude (no disrespect to any old dudes here)...I'd say late 50s, early 60s. Probably a 1934 hot rod owner or something.
I can understand if it's a Chevy Power Tour show or something like that - where the emphasis is on 'classic' cars. No problemo, I don't own a classic. But a benefit show? It'd seem to me that you'd want as many cars (at $10 per) as you could get to maximize the donation to the charity. What bothers me, is that some people are more worried about the car show aspect than the fundraising aspect of the event.
Ah well...it's their loss.
