Topped out/fastest youve gone...

A friend of mine has a 2002 Camaro Z28 that we hit 178 in mid-5th gear, no lie. That car is modded out big time, he bought it like that. The speedometer goes to 220 mph but I'm not sure if I got it in me to find out if it can peg out the speedo

Went 125+ (speedometer buried) in my Regal GSE about 2 hours ago.
Drove my 1995 Mustang GT 145+ (buried needle again) a few times.
Rode in my buddies STI while he did 165+ (buried needle again)- now THAT was scary. You think 120 is fast? Imagine standing on the side of the road and having a car pass you at 45 MPH- that's the difference between 120 and 165.

I remember in one of my small Japanese cars, I got a ticket for doing 87 mph on the highway in upstate NY. I remember the speed I was doing because it was the same number as the interstate highway I was on.
I haven't really pushed my Monte very hard yet; only had it up to about 80 on my way into work. It doesn't really feel like you're driving that fast in the Monte.

There are a lot of modded cars. I am seeing top speeds way above the governed amount. Pretty cool some of the speeds you are getting but please be safe and don't risk the lives of others. A sneeze at 120 and above could be catastrophic.

I heard the 04 Monte Carlo SS S/C was limited at 128? I bet if you were going down a hill at 128 you'd actually be able to reach 130 or more. The top speed of the 3800 engine N/A is 137MPH, the 3800 S/C would probably be in the 150/160 range, and the LS1 with the proper conditions can reach 187MPH. If I could hit 140 in my car, (top of the speedometer) I think I'd be pretty pleased. But we'll test that again after I finish my $2,500 in proposed modifications.
