Today really sucked I was in an accident.
We all love our cars. But unless it's a very rare car, don't bother with buying it back from them. Grab your aftermarket stuff and add ons and such, and go with another car.
Frame damage has a way of coming back to bite you in the a$$ later on.
Plus little problems start popping up. Little things that didn't get noticed the first time the body shop surveyed the damage.
You had a great car, and customized it to make it your own. But I think you should take the opportunity to take another car, and make it even better than the last one!

They should let you buy it back for a small amount. My truck was totalled and so were two of my son's Hondas. They just deduct it from what they would give you. The most we had deducted to buy back was was $300. One of my son's Hondas only cost us $70 but he had $300 worth of race seats, plus an expensive radio and exhaust system. If we wouldn't have bought it back, the insurance company would've took everything except personal belongings left in the car.
Sorry to hear about your car. Don't settle up with the insurance co until you find out how they calculate what the car was worth. I found out the hard way they low balled me. The 2nd time I got smart. I had to search the state and find 10 cars of equal year and equal value, from GM dealers, and use their prices for a 10 car average. Took me about an hour for an extra $1,500!
Find out how you can give them a figure of what YOU feel the car is worth.

They will low ball you on the first estimate. It is up to you to tell them to shove it or not.
They hope you jump on the offer cause again = saves them money.

My post wasn't because of you specifically Becky. I know what you meant.
But if I read Solow's posts correctly, he's still paying on the wrecked car. He counting on the insurance payoff to buy another car. If it wasn't for that, I'd say keep the wrecked car for parts.

I agree with TAZ. Get the good stuff out and put it in a different vehicle. Once the car has frame damage it simply will not drive the same as it did before, it will ALWAYS be a little bit off. Maybe only 3/16" but it still won't drive the same.
Hey just wanted to say I'm sorry. First of all I hope you are feeling OK. I know it's weird, but Montes are like family members to me and seeing that pictures just hurts my soul, as I'm sure it did yours. Just keep your sights on the new one, there are still some good ones out there. Best wishes and keep us updated, K?
Well I spoke with state farm today and they gave me the run down on my car they said it was only worth 10,008.56 minus 500 for my deductable making it 9,508.56 they were going to pay off my loan after I signed the forms they're sending me for the power of attorney. And then they tell me I have to turn my loaner back in by wednesday and that's it.I called them back talked to another agent that told me that they had to help me get another car same make model year and milage. So I print out like 15 different monte carlos my year to show them it was going to be more than what they were offering me to settle so there going to give me more towards one I don't know how long it will take but I need another car asap I went and tested drove that 05 supercharged and loved it.I didn't wanna wait on state farm I was going to call my credit union and have them approve me for a loan so I could get the car then and just pocket the money. But the state farm agent suggest I wait and not do that.
