Holy s**t, were there any casualties? And, honest question - how does an accident pile up that badly for over a mile? Truck spin out at high speed and take out a bunch of folks and chaos ensues behind?

 

Evening everyone.

The pile up on I-75 in Detroit killed a man from Allen Park, and two kids (ages 7 & 9) from Windsor, Ontario.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was 60 degrees here. Today was back to the deep freeze. And all the rain we got the last couple days froze suddenly overnight. Literally. Making roads an ice rink.

 

There were very heavy, narrow bands of lake effect snow earlier today. It was a situation where drivers drove into one of these "snow squalls" and whiteout conditions instantly dropped visibility to zero. Because of that, if one person wrecks it starts a chain reaction because other drivers can't see anything around them. The slick roads didn't help any.
