You had the first one right... the second one about the shocks, no they are facing hte front.. you have to crawl in the trunk and over the axle hump to pop the covers off and get to them. Believe it or not, the smaller 302 engine has 6 bolts in its valve cover, the larger 390 has 5. The proper torques are actually 19-24 on a 302, also the same torque as on a 260 or 289 V8. All other Ford V8's, from the 351's, 360 truck, 390, 428, even the 429, are 40-45 lbs-ft. The red line begins at 70. On my car, which is faded out, it's actually more of an orange line though.

LOL `Duane, one right is better then none @ `all
You should have waited for more member's to take your FORD Test...

It would be great if you created a Quiz for your NASCAR Thread with questions about current & past driver's...
That would be fun, especially with your super knowledge of the sport....

Thanks for all your Threads/posts to you Monte Carlo Family....Look 4ward to seeing a Quiz in the NASCAR Section of the forum...(When time permits) ~>Thanks

Okay, I'll admit I don't know the answers to any of Duane's questions. So I get a zero. But here's my answers anyway.

__________________________________________________ _________

1) How many bolts hold the starter in on a 302 engine? How many on a 390?

All of them.

2) Where will you find the top shock bolts for the rear axle shocks?

Rolling down the driveway after I remove them.

3) How many bolts in a valve cover on a 302? How many in a 390?

Not as many when I'm done working on them.

4) What is the proper torque on a connecting rod bolt for a 302? What about a 390?

When my pneumatic impact wrench stops turning.

5) On the round speedometers found in Ford Mustangs from 1967-1970, and also in the Torino's for '68-69, a red line, similar to what you would find on a tachometer, begins at a certain speed. What is this speed?

Un-attainable in a Ford.
